Spring Season

BEST OF SPRING

Spring is wonderful

In climatology, spring is the season of the year between winter and summer, when temperatures gradually increase.

In the Northern Hemisphere, it is typically defined as lasting from the vernal equinox (when day and night are of equal length) on March 20 or 21 to the summer solstice (when the year’s longest day occurs) on June 21 or 22, and in the Southern Hemisphere, it lasts from September 22 or 23 to December 22 or 23. Only in middle and high latitudes does the temperature change in the spring from winter’s cold to summer’s heat; near the equator, year-round temperature changes are minimal. In the polar regions, spring is only briefly present.

With rites and festivals centered around its significance in food production, spring has long been celebrated in many cultures. The idea of spring is connected to the planting of crops in European languages. After their wintertime dormancy, all plants, including those that have been cultivated, start growing again during this time of year.

Animals are also significantly impacted: they emerge from hibernation or winter dormancy to start nesting and reproducing, and birds migrate poleward in response to the warmer temperatures.
